A play unlike any other ever seen in Colorado Springs (or the world!); a play of both cosmic and microscopic proportions; a show of grandeur, majesty, intrigue, swordfights, and immaculate scene changes; a show for the ages!!!
THE SHOW TRIAL!!!
From the resplendent mind of local dramatic savant, Jeffery Alexander [Dean] Keele, and Comic Mastermind/Directorial Wunderkind, Jordan William Mathews, comes a larger-than-life tale of theatrical adventure that features an exciting, confounding and highly original plot.
In this scathing critique of Transversal Poetics, the prisoner Kay is sentenced to die onstage in a play within a play within a play within a play. Come and see the show that critics from Los Angeles to New York are raving, "For the love of Christ! It makes no goddamned sense!!!" One FREE Theatre Riot with every admission.
Jeff Keele is one of Colorado Springs' finest up-and-coming playwrights whose work has been presented many times by THEATREdART in our annual showcase of original and experimental short plays by local artists, Theatregasm. Most recently you may have seen his charming impromtu piece of grotesque romantic comedy, The Hole In My Heart Where You Used To Be, written and performed in under 24 hours with the Springs Ensemble Theatre's "24/7" playwriting project. As in his previous work, THE SHOW TRIAL puts Keele's wit, intellect, and very unique sense of humor on full display, performed with gusto by a talented cast of THEATREdART stalwarts with veteran funnyman Jordan Mathews at the helm for his directorial debut.
Bending the laws of theatre (or perhaps beating theatre into submission and making theatre like it), THE SHOW TRIAL challenges the most commonly held perceptions of theatre while entertaining the newcomer thoroughly.
